Built in 1860 this small lovely hotel was painstakingly restored and refurbished to a high standard of luxury and good taste in 1996 by Ettore Mochetti, editor of the Italian AD Magazine. Authentic 19th-century Biedermeier furniture, fine original paintings, carefully selected antique furnishings, upholstered walls and lovely marble bathrooms each with a Jacuzzi convey a feeling of quiet, unobtrusive luxury. All amenities one expects of a luxury hotel have been thoughtfully included. In the fall of 1999, the hotel underwent a further exciting $8 million dollar renovation of all its public areas at the hands of the eminent architect, Rocco Magnoli, whose Milan studio Spativm was commissioned by Gianni Versace to create his signature boutiques around the world. In graceful neo-classical style with emphasis on glass and light in honour of Venice itself, Magnoli's end result is a stunning showcase of elegance and style.
